Masukhuma Workshop with Katrina Wolfe

Venue: Artlab Thuja, 115 Larson Lake Road, Chimacum, WA 98325

$15 – $30 sliding scale per class

Masukhuma is a movement therapy, dance and performance art technique developed by Katrina Wolfe. It draws from her experience in Butoh, visual arts, Vipassana meditation, and from her observance of and integration with nature.

Each workshop begins with guided warming and stretching exercises followed by a period of vigorous, free movement. These two sections of the practice help to quiet the mind, energize the body and increase sensitivity to the natural, physical body sensations, which is a foundational element of Masukhuma. The second part of the workshops include both specifically guided and largely improvisational exercises and partner work, all ranging from active, quick movement to extremely slow, subtle and intricate movement.

Whatever one’s age, physical ability, movement background, or lack thereof, Masukhuma has a wonderfully cleansing effect on the physical body as well as on the mental and emotional states of the mind.

If you are curious about attending a workshop and have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact Katrina through her website, maarts.org
